Welcome to TLM, it’s so nice to meet you! My name is Kristen. I am an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and pediatric Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with over 9 years of experience in hospitals, NICUs, community programs, early intervention, feeding therapy, WIC, and private practice.
In my work, I quickly realized that so much goes into infant feeding - preparation, pivoting, and problem-solving. Why isn’t there more education before baby gets here? And why do new parents get sent home from the hospital with nothing more than a “best of luck!,” only to encounter problems they don’t know the solutions to and seek out lactation support only when in crisis? This didn’t seem like the best plan of care.
I created The Lactation Mentor because I believe we need MORE. More education, more preparation, more support. Knowledge is POWER, and having someone in your corner when things get tough can sometimes be exactly what you need in your unique journey.

As a lactation consultant & pediatric dietitian, I have a thorough understanding of all of the ups and downs, challenges and roadblocks, and nuances of infant feeding.
I have an empathetic and therapeutic counseling style, and I know that, for you to be successful at this, you need to make a plan that works for you. I am a fierce advocate and want you to have all the tools you need to be able to advocate for yourself. I want to empower you to have the confidence to navigate the ups and downs of lactation even long after we’re done working together.
I believe you have the right to make informed decisions in a medical system where the odds are unfortunately often stacked against you meeting your lactation goals. That’s where I come in.
